Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on July 19, 2009

nataliecrineanGillingham Ladies are proud to unveil local girl Natalie Crinean to the team, which is undoubtedly the biggest signing in the club’s history.

Natalie who has been involved in the England youth setup, spent last season in the Southern Premiership as an established first team player with Charlton Athletic she has also previously played for West Ham United explained why she moved from Charlton ” I played at Gills for a couple of seasons when I was young, but at that time they was not too serious about girls football so I had to move on, however after contacting the club I have been so impressed with what they have achieved in less than a year, they have got a good set up and good coaches and are very ambitious, to me its not a step down, its a challenge to work with everyone to get up to the Southern Premiership, to which I feel they should be”

Director Of Football Martin Andrews summed up the feeling within the management team ” This is why we do it, we put in so many hours a week voluntary and have changed the club from top to bottom within a year, so to sign a player of the quality of Natalie is fantastic, its given everyone a lift. For too long Gillingham have been in the shadows of our counterparts in South East London, we now hope that all those girls from Kent that feel they have to travel outside it, regardless of there age will now see Gillingham as a serious club within womens football.”
