Ladies Partner up with KRBS

Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on July 19, 2009

awaykit1Gillingham Ladies are proud to partner up with the Main Club sponsors Kent Reliance Building Society, known on Gillingham F.C shirts as KRBS.COM, with the main objective to promote women’s football in Kent whilst helping local charities at the same time.

The Gills Ladies first official engagement with KRBS.COM is on 4th July, where they will be attending a unique “Teddy Bears” Picnic in the grounds of Rochester Castle for Children aged from 4 – 11. This is for Kent & Medway Walking Group (www.kentwalkingbus.org) who are a charity set up to provide a link between schools and local authority to enable children to get too and from schools safely.

Gills Ladies will be running a Penalty Shoot Out competition along with Gillingham F.C Football in the Community team, and with the Ladies being there it is hoped it will encourage and show the young girls that football is not just for boys.

Other items in the planning stage are to have one of the Gillingham Ladies locked up in a haunted jail overnight with a local radio presenter at Fort Amerhurst in Chatham to raise money for a local charity, and possibly one of there Ladies to run the London Marathon with a local celebrity, again for Charity.

KRBS.COM are also planning to invite local charities that they work closely with, to not only Support Gillingham Football Club but to pop along to Lordswood F.C ground on a Sunday to watch Gillingham Ladies where they will have free entry and a coaching session on the pitch before the Ladies come out to warm up.

Gillingham Ladies Director of Football Martin Andrews enthused “Its a fantastic opportunity for GLFC to work closely with the Main clubs sponsors who are one of the most community orientated companies in Kent, all our Ladies are excited and its a great chance to not only promote ourselves but Gillingham Football Club, KRBS & Women’s Football in general and to give something back to the community to”.

Stephen Plimmer from KRBS.COM commented ” Kent Reliance Building Society is pleased to support the GFC ladies team. As main club sponsor of Gillingham Football Club we work closely with the clubs management and squad to take an active role in many local initiatives. Football is a powerful tool that can enthuse and inspire people, young and old. It has given us a greater capacity for the work we do for the charities we support.”
