Reserves Special:- “We can win the league”.
Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on September 10, 2009
Gillingham Ladies Reserves finally get the oppourtunity to show what they can do on Sunday, as they kick off there season away to Aylesford. After the disappointment of last Sunday’s Ashford game being pulled due to Registration problems, it now all systems go as clearance has been granted.
The reserves have been in sparkling form in Pre-Season as they held Charlton 0-0 and beat Luton Town 3-1, and recently beat Premier side Anchorians 3-0.

Charlotte Abbott
Striker Charlotte Abbott spoke to us after the 3-0 Anchorians win and was in boyant mood. When asked about there pre-season preperations Chabs said ” Preseason has gone well and we have really stepped up on our fitness and we have won all of our games”
Charlotte has has been in outstanding form having scored against Braintree Town, Gravesham, Prince Of Wales & Anchorians. She also came off the bench in the last 1st team game against Tottenham Hotspurs.
When asked has she set herself a target, ” No I have not set myself a target, as if I dont reach it I just throw one of my strops as usual”
To finish off Charlotte sent out a warning to all “we win the league this season, and then we win the Prem reserve league next season”

Reserve Team Captain Kim Bolden
Without a doubt there is plenty of youth in the reserve team, however with every team you need the experience, and the Gillingham Ladies have plenty of that in the squad. Kim Bolden is there captain, and she has already stated that they want to emulate the first team and aim to be unbeaten all season. The Ladies also know that as part of the long term strategy for the team, there is pressure for them to win promotion this season, so they can move up to the Premier Division. To which the Gills wish to bring in another team next season (U19 Development), should they find themselves promoted into the Southern Premiership.

Jade Johnson joined from Charlton Athletic
The Ladies have a wealth of quality available, as new signing Jade Johnson who scored in the first teams first game of the season against Cambridge will be involved with the reserves as she aims to get match fitness to push back into the first team fold. Along with Jade, Rachel Ahern who like wise is on the fringe of the first team but needs games after a long spell out of the game.
The Reserves though are all fully focused and are just looking to get back onto the pitch to kick start there season.
