Welwyn Garden City Pull Out

Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on September 19, 2009

welwyngardencityIts a shame that another women’s football team has been forced to withdrawn from the league. This time its Welwyn Garden City. Last season both Whitehawk & Bedford Town Belles folded.

One of last years strongest teams had a summer of discontent.

The writing was on the wall for them in there first game of the season when newly promoted Ebbsfleet.

However Gillingham Ladies hit WGC for 18, despite playing once more afterwards against Norwich they still lost by 11 goals.

All there results have been wiped from the league with the Gills now drop to 3rd place behind Lewes.

Gills was also due to meet them in the quarter finals of the league cup, this will mean that they progress to the semi final.

It also means that only one team will be relegated from the league this season.
