The search for the “Original” Gillingham Ladies (1974)

The recent home match against Ipswich Town became a whole new twist for Gillingham Ladies.
With the club having a great start to the season and various press associations around the area helping to drive the Gills Ladies forward. Intrigue got the better of someone.
After entering via the turnstile at our home ground Lordswood Football Club, a nice polite lady made her way to my wife, who was selling the matchday programs and the 50/50. She got talking with Emma (my wife) and then she produced these stunning press cuttings and went on to say that she was part of the Original Gillingham Ladies team that was started in 1974.
The team themselves started off being called Dandelions in 1973 but in 1974 the renamed as Gillingham Ladies. In 1974 the Evening Post went and watched one of there games and captured the moment.
Gillingham won the game 4-1 against Thanet All-Stars.
