Weekend Preview:- (1st) v Cambridge, (Res) v Anchorians Res

Cambridge City GroundBoth teams are in action again this weekend, with the 1st team making the journey up to Cambridge, to which they play at the impressive Cambridge City’s ground (pictures left), whilst the Reserves are at home against Anchorians Reserves.

 

So here is the low down on the two games this weekend.

Cambridge v Gillingham

The two teams first met on the opening day of the season, it was a new look Gills side, taking on a new look Cambridge team as the City and Utd teams merged together over the Summer.

end of the table, Cambridge have been putting in some decent performances including a superb 1-0 away win at promotion rivals Enfield Town.

Cambridge also progressed to the quarter final of the league cup after they knocked Ebbsfleet out on penalties.

On the first day of the season Ashlee Hincks scored twice, with Nat Crinean, Vicky Ashton-Jones, Dan Farmer and Jade Johnson also scoring.

TEAM NEWS

Ian Varley is missing Deanna Cooper & Jade Johnson this weekend, and he is also showing his faith in the Centre Of Excellence as he is given Kate Foster more valuable experience, with Whitney Judd resting this weekend. Amy Russ has also been recalled up to the first team squad.

FORM

Gills have been in superb form since the lost to Lewes earlier in the season, however this is statiscally there only 2nd away game of the season, however if you add the two games wiped off then the Gills have scored 34 goals without conceding.

Cambridge though are struggling for wins, despite pushing Ipswich (2-3)  & MK Dons (4-6) all they way. The plus points for Cambridge management is the fact that Cambridge are capable of scoring.

Players are to meet at the DARTFORD GOALS  for 10:30, to catch the mini-bus. All players are expected to use the mini bus unless cleared by Ian Varley to make own travel.

Otherwise Travel for Spectators:-

Leave the M11 at Junction 13. At the top of the slip road turn right to head towards Cambridge on the A1303 Madingley Road. Continue on until you reach a mini round-a-bout, take the first exit into Northampton Street then across the lights into Chesterton Lane.

At the end of this road you will come to a large Round-a-bout with a shop on it (Staples). Follow the road to the left and take the middle lane round to your right. On getting round the corner keep left and follow the road round past the Portland Arms Pub. 100yards on the left is the entrance to the ground opposite Tommy Tuckers take-away.

GILLINGHAM v ANCHORIANS RES

The reserves are in fine form as they play only there 2nd league game at home this season. Gills have been strong at the back and on fire in front of the goal having scored 23 and conceding just 2 in 4 games.

Anchorians Res started off the season well winning the first two games but have failed to win in there previous 4 games.

Amy Russ has moved back up to the first team squad, and Terri Reynolds returns from injury. However Whitney Judd could of been available for the first team however a note to those who have not played in the reserve team yet we do need a passport photo of you to get you registered.

Chloe Phillips will be hoping to keep her goal scoring form aswell, as she has scored in the last 3 games, whilst captain Kimi Bolden will be keen for her defence to keep another clean sheet.

Game kicks off at 2pm at our home ground Lordswood F.C, there is no charge for spectators for this game. Please note the burger bar will also not be open but everyone is welcome to pop to the Social club next door for refreshments.
