Varley delighted with Cambridge victory
Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on October 18, 2009
Gillingham Ladies manager Ian Varley spoke to the Gills Ladies website to share his views on his side’s 5-1 victory over Cambridge on Sunday.
“I’m really pleased with the result today. That result puts us top of the league with games in hand.
“Without setting the world alight we went there and did a professional job and for that reason I was pleased.
“Once again we looked exciting going forward and very solid at the back again. The back four and keeper have been excellent all season. All good teams are built on a strong defence which gives the attacking players the confidence to go forward and score goals.
“Everyone played well again, I thought Les (Kay) was fantastic today, she is so composed on the ball and always gives an assured performance. I also thought ‘Farms’ (Danni Farmer) was excellent, she is technically superb and on top of that works hard and has the ability to control a game on her own. Jodie (Mugford) was unlucky not to score today but again gave a very good performance.
“Overall a very good team performance and we will look to continue that against Lewes next week. Happy days!”
