The FA Womens Cup: Round 2 Preview
Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on November 27, 2009
The magic of the cup continues this Sunday as Gillingham Ladies travel to Enfield Town in what is the tie of the round as the two rivals go head to head for the first time this season.
It was only a few weeks ago the first league encounter between the two was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, and consequently because of this cup draw it means one of either Enfield or Gillingham will be in the pot for Round 3 which is to be played on 13th December, meaning the League cup semi final between the two has also been put back.
LAST ROUND
Gillingham cruised into round two with a convincing 6-0 win over South West Combination side Oxford City.
Enfield Town ironically played Gillingham’s neighbours and recent Kent Cup opponents Maidstone Town. Enfield scored two goals within the first couple of minutes of the game and ran out 3-1 winners.
The winners of the tie will receive £350 prize money and be in the draw, which this time includes the Southern & Northern Premiership teams. The National Premiership teams enter in Round Four.
RECENT FORM
Both teams are in fine form and Enfield currently sit 3 points above the Gills, but have played 3 games more.

TEAM SELECTION
Manager Ian Varley will have a full squad to choose from as everyone is fit.
