Bex and Farms react to first win of 2010
Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on January 4, 2010
Gills Ladies captain Becky Lyon was delighted with the team’s start to 2010 after the Gills put Milton Keynes Dons to the sword, winning 8-1 away from home.
“It was a brilliant start to the second half of the season for us,” she said.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better start to 2010 for Gillingham.
“The game was sluggish from the start but after going down 1-0 we worked hard in bad conditions and got the result we needed.
“Ian gave us a bit of a talking to at half time and made sure we all knew our jobs and in the second half we went out there and got the job done.
“Once we started playing our football they couldn’t match us. Individually everyone did their job and we got a great result.”
Midfielder Danni Farmer scored twice in the match and said the result was a statement of intent from the Gills, who are going all out for the title this season.
“Once we got into our stride we were a class above and ruthless,” she said.
“That was definitely a message to the rest of the league.”
