Gills Ladies Reserves 13-0 Whiststable

Gills Ladies reserves maintained their unbeaten run in the League as they hammered opponents Whitstable 13-0 at Martin Grove.

The writing was on the wall for the visitors as early as the first minute when Charlotte Abbott had a goal ruled out for offside.

It took until the eighth minute for the Gills to take the lead thanks to a well taken goal from Kirsty Goodall after she was played in by the impressive Charlotte Abbott.

The flood gates then opened for the Gills as a number of goals flowed before half time, next to score for the Gills was Charlotte Abbott.

It came hot on the heels of Goodall putting a shot wide. Lauren Harris found the striker who had all the time in the world to place her shot into the top corner.

In the 16th minute had her chance to get on the score sheet once more but she hit her shot over the bar from a great position.

In the 21st minute it was 3-0 as Chloe Phillips hit a first time shot from fully thirty yards that found the top corner with ease.

Just a minute later and the Gills made it 4-0 as Kate Foster picked the ball up on the half way line and charged forward before calmly chipping the on rushing keeper with a superb finish.

Three minutes later and Charlotte Abbott grabbed her second goal of the game, Leanne Stevens swung in a corner and Chabs reacted fastest to slot the ball into the bottom corner.

Goal number six followed shortly after as Leanne Stevens swung in a dangerous corner that the Whitstable defence failed to deal with and it cannoned in off one of their defenders.

Just before half time Leanne Stevens got her name on the score sheet, she hit a cross come shot that beat the keeper all ends up and nestled firmly in the back of the net.

A minute later and it was 8-0 Lauren Harris taking the ball into the area and hitting a shot, it cannoned off a defender into the path of Gemma Ridge who slotted home at the second time of asking.

On the stroke of half time the Gills were awarded a penalty when Chloe Phillips was fouled just inside the area. The young striker then picked herself up and calmly found the back of the net with the spot kick despite the keeper getting a strong hand to the ball.

Half Time 9-0

The Gills picked up in the second half where they left off in the first by continuing the goal rush.

It was soon 10-0 when Lauren Harris slotted home from a Kylie Overton cross after good pressure down the wing.

On the hour mark Charlotte Abbott netted her hat trick as the Gills began to run riot over their opponents. A ball came into the Whitstable box and both Kirsty Goodall and Chabs went for the same ball but it was the striker with the final touch.

In the 67th minute Kylie Overton got onto the score sheet as she hit a right footed shot into the bottom corner to make it 12-0.

The game then began to peter out after such a frenetic pace for over an hour but there was still time for Abbott to net her fourth goal of the game.

With two minutes left on the clock the striker netted after a good run and her shot found the bottom corner to add the gloss to an impressive performance.
