Special’s Corner: Anchs and shanks

Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on April 21, 2010

We travelled just down the A2 to Anchorians last weekend; we had previously beaten them at home in that game I scored a hat trick so was hoping that I could do the same this time around.

We started off strong with some positive play down the wings there is no doubt I think that if we play the ball on the floor we play the best football in the League.

I can’t remember who scored in what order. I know I remember Terri scoring from a corner a header and Amy Russ scored twice. [Kirsty, Chloe with the other two goals]

I scored a wicked goal, was in the box flicked it over one player then another player and volleyed it into the back of the net. It is the best goal that I have ever scored.

In the second half we were pretty much camped in their half and had a lot of possession. Kate made a great run around possibly five players and was awarded a penalty after running from the back line with the ball and then being fouled in the area. Unfortunately her penalty kick was just tipped over the crossbar.

We were happy to welcome Lauren Harris back after injury not sure if she scored but made an impact as soon as she got on. The back four were solid in defence, Kirsty and Chloe worked tirelessly on the wings creating so many chances.

Kylie worked hard up front creating many chances. Next week we have Milton and Fulston away and we are hoping for a repeat victory.

Special’s moment of the game: Terri Reynolds went for a shot that almost hit the corner flag. It wouldn’t have been to bad if she then didn’t get mugged off by the ref by him saying that was possibly the worst shot he had ever seen haaaaaaaaaaaaa!
