Judd: I have enjoyed every minute of this season

Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on May 17, 2010

Whitney Judd has just finished the best season of her career having won the League and the Kent Cup.

On Sunday afternoon she lined up against Norwich for the third time in a month and she wanted to win the game and finish the season on a high.

Reflecting on the game, Whitney said: “It wasn’t too bad a game I guess, it was a nice day and you could see all the girls wanted to win this game to deny Norwich the chance of finishing runners up in the League.

“It was nice to get the revenge from the League Cup final and we deserved it as well as we really played well during the game.”

With Ash Hincks making her return in the game it gave everyone a lift and an added confidence to their football.

She added: “Of course it was good having our top scorer back, she had a brilliant game as well and deserved her goal.

“It was a wicked goal and she took it really well, she always seems to score wicked goals though whenever she scores.”

The Gills have come a long way this season from relegation candidates last season to League Champions this campaign, and Judd admits that she has enjoyed every minute of it.

She said: “I have enjoyed every minute of this season it has been really good. It has made a big difference winning nearly all our games instead of losing most of them like in previous seasons.

“I didn’t really expect to win the League and Kent Cup at the start of the season. I knew we would be a completely different team because of all the players Ian had got in. So I knew we would come close to winning the League and be in cup finals.

When looking back over the season there was one moment that sticks out for Whitney and that is winning the Kent Cup final.

Revealing just why it meant so much, she added: “Winning the Kent cup against Millwall is definitely the highlight of my season. The way we had to really fight to get that result made it that little bit more brilliant for me.

“I think it meant that little bit more to the Old School Gills players like myself, Bex, Whit and Aj because we have been here for ages now. I also know just how it meant to the rest of the girls as well to win the final.”

Next season is a massive leap into the unknown for not only the Gills but Whit as well and one challenge she is certainly looking forward to.

She said: “Who wouldn’t be looking forward to next season? Everyone has got to fight for their place in the team with all the new players that will come in over the summer now. It is an exciting time to be playing for the Gills.”
