Weekend Preview

Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on July 30, 2010

There is no rest for Gillingham Ladies this weekend as they are straight back into action again on Sunday.

The first team face a trip through the Dartford Tunnel as they take on Essex side Braintree.

Aaron Perry takes his side up the A20 for a derby game against Charlton Ladies Reserve side.

It is the second game in a week for Ian Varley’s side as they played on Thursday night against a highly rated Millwall Lionesses side.

The Firsts

Ian Varley will take a strong squad to Braintree as he looks to give everyone as much time as possible to impress ahead of the Charlton game in 3 weeks time.

His side lost 1-0 to Millwall on Thursday night in their first defeat of pre-season but it was a good performance from his side and they will take a number of positives into the game on Sunday.

Up until this point his side had been in good form and had been scoring goals for fun with 10 in their first two games, and they will be looking to get back on the goals trail on Sunday.

The Squad

Jessica Nunn, Lauren Williams, Les Kay, Stacey McConville, Becky Lyon, Natalie Farbrace, Sian Cheedy, Danielle Carlton, Danni Farmer, Jodie Mugford, Vicky Ashton-Jones, Ashlee Hincks, Natalie Crinean, Laura Jeffery, Lauren Phillips and Becky Taylor

The Reserves

Aaron Perry’s side play only their second pre-season game on Sunday as they travel to Charlton to take on rivals Charlton Ladies.

Last weekend the Reserve took on Basildon and came away with a good 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Charlotte Abbott and Kylie Overton.

The result was all the more impressive considering that due to injuries and holidays the manager only had 11 players to choose from, and all 11 players got through the 90 minutes unscathed.

The Squad

Ruth Jackson, Rachel Ahern, Kimi Bolden, Whitney Judd, Lou Jackson, Kate Foster, Zara Clarke, Isabelle Martin, Gemma Ridge, Kirsty Goodall, Amy Russ, Anelle Massey, Amy Taylor, Kylie Overton and Charlotte Abbott
