Overton: I am really happy with my hat trick

Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on August 25, 2010

Striker Kylie Overton rounded off her pre-season in style last night with a well taken hat trick against Malgo.

The 22-year-old has now scored seven goals this pre-season and looks to be full of confidence heading into the new season.

Talking exclusively to the Gills Ladies site, she said: “I thought we worked really hard today for the win and we worked really well together as a team to create the nine goals.

“I am really happy with my hat trick today but I must thanks Kate Foster, Kimi Bolden and Whitney Judd for their great assists.”

Kylie is full of confidence headed into the opening game of the season and that is down to the goals scored in the run up to the new season.

She added: “Yes I have got a few goals this pre-season and it has definitely given me a confidence boost.

“I am just excited now for the new season to start, because I think that all the girls have become a lot more confident.

“It will be a good to see how we get on with our first game against Colchester Ladies as I think we have improved immensely over the pre-season, especially as we are unbeaten as well.”

In the summer the Ladies recruited Aaron Perry and Matt Adkins to run the Reserve team for the coming season, and Kylie is full of praise for the work they have done.

She said: “I think that Aaron and Matt have helped us so much and we have definitely learned a lot from them to improve our game.

“I think we will do really well this season as I have so much trust in Aaron and Matt’s quality coaching that we will become a stronger team and do well in this League.”

Last season Overton finished as top scorer in the Reserves with 17 goals but she isn’t thinking about finishing top scorer this season just yet.

She added: “I think my overall target for the season is just to be a team player and to work hard to keep my place within the team.

“There are a lot of players that are improving so much, so I just need to keep scoring and to stay confident as a player.”
