The Weekend Preview – Can the Gills tame the Lionesses?

Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on August 27, 2010

The Ladies take on Millwall Lionesses on Sunday afternoon at Martin Grove in the first of their League Cup group games.

The Gills face a battle to qualify for the next round of the League Cup with Charlton and Brighton also in their group.

They take on the Lionesses just three weeks after losing to them in a keenly contested pre-season game.

Ian Varley and his side will be looking to make a statement and come away from the game with a positive result.

The Ladies got their League campaign off to a winning start last time out with a 1-0 victory over local rivals Charlton.

Whilst the performance wasn’t the best the Gills have worked on a number of things on the training ground and will be ready to hit the ground running on Sunday afternoon.

Kylie Overton was on the score sheet with a hat trick on Tuesday evening whilst there were braces for Charlotte Abbott and Kate Cronin-Wilson and Natalie Farbrace was also amongst the scorers.

They will be looking to carry on their unbeaten run this Sunday afternoon as they finally finish their pre-season campaign.
