Parkwood Ladies 1-8 Gills Ladies Reserves

Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on August 29, 2010

The Reserves finally rounded off their pre-season campaign on Sunday morning with a comprehensive victory over Parkwood Ladies.

The goals in this early kick off came from Kate Cronin-Wilson who scored twice; there was also a brace for Gemma Ridge and goals for Anelle Massey, Natalie Farbrace, Kirsty Goodall and Kylie Overton.

Enfield Reserves were supposed to provide the opposition for the Ladies final game, but when they pulled out the Ladies arranged a game with Parkwood.

With one week left until the start of the season it gave Aaron Perry and Matt Adkins a chance to see their players in action for one last time before the big kick off.

The Gills were soon ahead when Natalie Farbrace squared a ball across the Parkwood defence and Kate Cronin-Wilson tapped home after just two minutes.

It wasn’t long before it was 2-0 thanks to a well taken goal from Natalie Farbrace. Kylie Overton picked up the ball and played in Farbrace who was breaking from midfield. She took the ball on and rounded a defender before smashing home her shot.

The Gills third goal game courtesy of the impressive Kirsty Goodall she was played in from the midfield and fired home her shot into the bottom corner.

Summer signing Kate Cronin-Wilson made it 4-0 before half time with a well taken strike meaning she has now scored four goals in her last two games.

Anelle Massey smashed home the Gills fourth goal of the game, when a ball was slipped through the Parkwood defence and she fired home her shot into roof of the net from 12 yards.

Kylie Overton netted the Reserves 6th goal of the morning when Gemma Ridge slid an inch perfect pass through to the striker, who stroked home a well timed shot.

Parkwood then got what turned out to be nothing more than a consolation meaning that Ruth Jackson conceded just her fourth goal of pre-season.

Kylie Overton then returned the favour to Gemma Ridge by laying the ball off for Ridge to hit a shot low into the bottom left hand corner.

The second half substitute then got her second goal of the game after a good through ball from Anelle Massey; she latched onto the ball before smashing it into the back of the net.

Gemma could then have a hat trick but she had a well taken strike ruled out for a debatable offside decision.

The Reserves can be rightly proud of continuing their unbeaten run to include all of pre-season; it will give them massive confidence going into next weekend’s game against Colchester.

Gills: Nunn, Judd, Foster, Clarke, Bolden (c), Martin, Farbrace, Abbott, Goodall, Overton, Cronin-Wilson
