Goodall: I was really pleased

Kirsty Goodall kicked off her season in style on Sunday with a goal against opponents Colchester Ladies.
She was part of the Reserve side who swept away their opponents in their opening game in the Premiership Reserve Leagues.
Talking about scoring against Colchester, Kirsty said: “I was really pleased to get on the score sheet, last season and during pre season I haven’t scored as many as I would have liked, hopefully I’ve now opened the floodgates.”
Kirsty is glad that the season has finally got underway as everyone was just itching to get back into action competitively.
She added: “It has definitely felt like ages to get here, we started quite early and have played a lot of pre-season games, it’s good to finally be playing for points.
“I am playing in a much more attacking position now so hopefully I will get more opportunities in front of goal, whether I finish them is a different story.”
It is a new level for all the Reserves and they have settled into the new League with ease after Sunday and Goodall admits they didn’t quite know what to expect.
She said: “I think the whole team were excited for the first game, but also a bit worried as it’s our first season in the League.
“We didn’t know what to expect quality wise. I don’t think anyone was expecting that score, it has given the team a lot of confidence.”
The Reserves remain unbeaten which includes pre-season and Kirsty revealed that she enjoyed every minute of pre-season.
“I really enjoyed pre season, considering we were beasted by Laura. Everyone is so much fitter and that showed in our pre season games and it was great for the team to go unbeaten, we just need to carry that on into the season.
Last season the Reserves won the South East Counties Division One East title and the attacking midfielder is hoping they can have another successful season.
She said: “I am really looking forward to the season, the reserves have got a great team spirit and everyone gets on well, including the new players that have joined this season. Even in harder games I think we will all pull together to churn out results.”
The 23-year-old was also full of praise for the new look coaching staff that were appointed this summer.
She added: “They have done a great job during pre-season; they have made the squad more confident and brought new ideas into the team, including our formation, which works really well.
“My only complaint is the box to box sprinting we were made to do after the Malgo game, still bitter about that.”
