The Weekend Preview: Ladies on the road again

Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on November 20, 2010

The first team take centre stage this week as they begin the defence of their Kent Cup crown, that they won against Millwall last season 1-0 thanks to a Becky Lyon goal.

The Reserves begin the first of two weeks without a game due to various cup competitions that their opponents are still involved in.

London Corinthians are the Gills opponents in the Quarter final of the League Cup, and if they win they will face a potential tie against Millwall in the semi-finals.

The Firsts

London Corinthians are the Ladies first opponents in the Kent Cup this season as they look to mount a successful defence of the trophy they won last season.

The Gills have not played a competitive game in the last two weeks due to the fact that both the games against Cardiff and West Ham have been postponed due to the weather.

They haven’t let their match fitness drop as they played a friendly against Chelsea in the middle of last week, and have had two good training sessions this week.

They are also boosted by the signing yesterday afternoon of winger Leah Jones who goes straight into the squad to face Conrinthians this weekend.

The Squad

Becky Spencer, Lauren Williams, Sarah Jones, Sian Cheedy, Becky Lyon, Stacey McConville, Deanna Cooper, Jodie Mugford, Danielle Carlton, Danni Farmer, Vicky Ashton-Jones, Ashlee Hincks, Natalie Crinean, Lauren Phillips, Laura Jeffery, Izzy Martin, Leah Jones
