The Weekend Preview: Will Ladies beat cold snap?

Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on November 26, 2010

The Ladies are at home this Sunday afternoon as they entertain Charlton in a sort of local derby match type thing.

The Reserves once again have a weekend off and so it is left to the first team to take centre stage for the second week in a row.

Charlton are the team that the Gills play for the third time this season, and in both previous encounters the Ladies have emerged victorious.

Both games were close however and the Gills won the League game 1-0 thanks to an Ashlee Hincks free kick on the opening day of the season.

They then met in the League Cup when a late comeback sent the Gills through to the knock out stages. Goals from Danielle Carlton and Laura Jeffery cancelled out an early Gemma Bryan strike.

The Gills go into the game on the back of a 7-1 victory over London Corinthians in the Kent Cup last weekend.

All five of the Gills attacking players found the back of the net and there were braces for Danni Farmer and new signing Leah Jones.

The Ladies will be hoping to take this fine form into the League match against Charlton where Leah Jones will make her first start in the Southern Premiership.
