The Weekend Preview: Kent Cup all the way

This Weekend both Gills Ladies teams are in Kent Cup action as they bid to make it into the next round of the competition.
The first team travel to Millwall Reserves in a repeat of last year’s Kent Cup final, this season they meet at the semi final stage. The Gills as the holders will be looking to make it into the final for the second year in a row.
The Reserves come in at the Quarter final stage of their competition and take on local side Meridian Girls, as they look to make it to the semi-finals.
The Firsts
Having played their first game in a month last weekend at Yeovil the first team are itching to get onto the pitch for their final game before the Christmas break.
Despite the long journey to Yeovil last weekend and the state of the pitch the Ladies came away with a creditable 0-0 draw.
In last season’s competition the Gills beat Millwall Reserves in the final thanks to a late goal from Captain Becky Lyon.

The Reserves
This is the first season that the Reserves have competed in the Kent Cup due to the revamp of the competition over the summer.
This weekend they face a test as they come up against lower League opposition in Meridian Girls but they won’t be taking the game lightly.
They are in fine forms and they sit twelve points clear at the top of the League heading into the Christmas break.
