The Weekend Preview: Ladies seek return to winning ways

Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on January 28, 2011

The Ladies are back in League action this weekend as both sides look to put last weekend’s disappointing defeats behind them.

The first team suffered their fourth defeat of the season at home to Keynsham despite an impressive performance.

Whilst the Reserve team went down two-nil away at Portsmouth for their second defeat of the season although they remain nine points clear at the top of the table.

This weekend the first team play host to bottom of the table QPR who will be no pushovers and the Reserves travel to third placed Millwall Reserves.

The Firsts

The performance from the first team against second from top Keynsham was impressive as they played some of their best attacking football for a while.

Laura Jeffery netted the Gills goal and her third in the Blue of the Ladies after following up a Natalie Crinean shot.

Ian Varley has an injury doubt over Vicky Ashton-Jones who came off after half an hour with a hamstring problem; she was replaced by Becky Lyon.
