Players react to Winning the League
Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on March 29, 2011
The Reserves won the League at a canter in the end and fully deserve the Reserves (Southern) Division Two title.
Having won all their League games at home this season the Ladies Official site caught up with them to get their reaction to such a marvellous season.
Anelle Massey said: “It is pretty damn amazing; it means the absolute world to me and all the girls who have really worked hard all season and it’s paid off. It was good to get a result today considering they did us over at their place, and not to lose a home game all season is pretty nice! The cup final isn’t that far away now and everyone is absolutely buzzing for it! It is going to be such a good day, and to win the double would be just great.
Whitney Judd said: “It means the world to win the League with such a good bunch of girls. Winning against Barnet was the perfect way to win the League because they beat us in our last game against them. Buzzing for the final is not quite the word; I am way too excited for that and all the celebrations when we beat Long Lane.”
Amy Taylor said: “It means a lot being my first season with the Gills. I think all the girls have worked really hard and deserve this so much. To finish that way with a win over Barnet was wicked especially rounding it off making sure we were unbeaten at home. It definitely does leave us buzzing for the cup final. Even if you’re not I am sure a conversation with Whit and Nells will get you buzzing again.
Lauren Harris said: “It’s freaking awesome, and all the girls deserve it because they’ve worked so hard and stuck together and kept going even when we were in trouble (but that wasn’t very often to be honest). It was B-e-a-utiful, Barnet thought they were gonna smash us but guess they got that wrong didn’t they? It leaves me buzzing like a bee for the Cup final.
Sammy Lester said: “It feels amazing to have won the League and we deserve it for all the hard work that we have put in. It feels good to have beaten Barnet because we worked very hard to be able to do so, and I am buzzing already for the Cup final even though it is not for a few weeks.”
Kylie Overton said: “It feels great!! Every single player has worked so hard the season and because of it we are now CHAMPIONS!! It was really good winning against Barnet today as they won against us last time, everyone put in lots of effort today to win the match. I think everyone is so up for the cup final against Long Lane, will be a great final and I know from everyone’s performances lately that we are going to look sharp against them.”
Kirsty Goodall said “It’s amazing it has been one of my favourite seasons so far, the girls have worked so hard and shown so much character to win the League and win it well. It was a perfect end to the season, was quite nervous going into the game, having such a successful season, then to lose the last game at home would have taken the shine off. The whole team worked so hard, for each other, it is a great score line to end on. I am definitely looking forward to the final, the Ressies spirit has been great all season, we all hype each other up and the final will be no different… Giiiiiilllllllssssssss!!!”
