Nat Previews Charlton
Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on April 19, 2011
Natalie Crinean is ready and raring to go for tomorrow night’s game against local rivals Charlton Ladies in the League.
The striker is getting ready to lead the line against the Addicks in a rare game under the floodlights at Martin Grove.
Talking ahead of the game, she said: “It is definitely a big game and I think it is good that the game got moved from when it was. It is good that we can get the fans along as on a Sunday they could be playing themselves.
“I don’t know what it is about playing under the lights maybe it is the atmosphere but it is just brilliant. I think seeing the last two games out at home is brilliant and that we couldn’t ask for a better way to finish the season off.
“We need the crowds to come in and get behind them; my girls from the Centre of Excellence are coming to watch so that should be a good few. It is a week night so people aren’t really doing anything. “
So far this season the Gills have played and beaten Charlton in the League and the League Cup and Nat is hoping that tomorrow the Gills can make it three.
She added: “If you look at the table everything says that we aren’t flying high and they clearly are but we always manage to up our game for the big games. I have no doubt in my mind that we can do the triple on them.
“We really want to end the season with a bang and it is crazy because the last couple of weeks the team spirit has been brilliant. It isn’t what you normally expect when it is danger time, but we are all raring to go for it.”
In the last few weeks the Gills have had some indifferent performances but have picked up results especially against Brighton away.
She said: “I think hopefully if we get to be in this League next season then I think we will be more prepared for it. We have a few players who have played in this League but that doesn’t matter.
“This season has been a great test of character and hopefully we can keep it going until the end of the season, keep the girls together and fight to be one of the better teams next season.
“All we can hope is we score the goals that keep us up, we are all happy and we just hope that we get what we deserve from this League, we really shouldn’t be where we are. All the girls know what it means to be in this League and for us not to be in this League would be an absolute kick in the teeth.
“You can make excuses but if you don’t score goals then you don’t get points and it is as simple as that. We have been hit and miss this season, and I have been out for a few weeks and likewise Potter and Jeffers. The attacking players haven’t really gelled together and that is why we aren’t scoring goals.
“I have no doubt that we can score the goals now and as well if we have a good pre-season that the goals will come and we will shock a few people, I really believe that.”
