Varley: We couldn’t have done any more
Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on April 29, 2011
Despite seeing his side slip to defeat in their final League game of the season Ian was pleased with his side’s performance.
The Gills needed a point to guarantee their survival in the Southern Premiership, unfortunately defeat means they are relying on other results to see if they go down or face a play-off.
Speaking after the final whistle, Ian said: “I don’t really know what to say to be honest; it is just so tough to take.
“To come up against a keeper who is fine form like that and isn’t even their first choice keeper and some of the saves she made were unbelievable.
“We have created chances but it is like the goal has a shield or something over it, you can’t really ask them to do anymore everyone is devastated. The question now is do we get another chance after Sunday or is that it.”
The Ladies didn’t want to be relying on other results but they find themselves relying on Portsmouth to do them a favour to make a play-off game.
He added: “It is a shame it has finished up 2-0 here really, all we can ask for is for professionalism from Pompey, but then they have lost to the bottom two as was Brighton and QPR in the last week.
“You don’t know what is going to happen in the game, and all we can do is hope but we couldn’t have done anymore tonight, and if we do get another chance we will have a real go at it.
“I think we deserve another go at it but it hasn’t really boiled down to this one game, it does come down to other things and the whole season.
“I know what people say about luck but I think I have actually experienced bad luck this season and it has just not happened for us. I am not one to talk about it because I think you make your own luck but some of the stuff we have had has been unbelievable.
“Whether that be bizarre own goals, like the Yeovil game where Jeffers hits the post and they score straight down the other end. If we had won of them games then we wouldn’t be in this position but that is how it goes, fair play to West Ham they had two shots on target and scored them both.”

Talen an ecellxent post. I stopped reading it halfway through to finish my meal I’d half eaten last night (now morning here in the UK). Believe me I looked at the remaining sausage on the plate and thought ladyboys. I have been through exactly the same kind of night you had in Pattaya. I took two ladies to Boyz Town a few years back and I also made sure I was camped (appropriate word) in the middle of them. I had a great night too.I think if you are visiting Pattaya then you might as well see everything it has to offer. The sausage I buttered a slice of bread and buried it in the middle with a blob of BROWN sauce. That’s what you call a ladyboy sandwich.Martyn recently posted..
