New Coaching Structure for Gills Ladies

Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on July 22, 2011

Gills Ladies can today exclusively unveil their new coaching line-up for next season.

First team manager Ian Varley will now be joined in the first team coaching set up by Reserve team manager Aaron Perry and his assistant Matt Adkins.

Aaron and Matt will both take up the position of First Team Coach, assisting Ian in training and on match days.

Explaining the reason for the change in coaching set up, Ian said: “This was provisionally agreed 2-3 months ago and I’m delighted that both have agreed to come up to the first team. They both did a great job with the Reserves last season and will make a great contribution to the first team.

“Aaron spoke to me towards the end of last season saying he wouldn’t be continuing on as Reserve manager as he didn’t want the commitment of being a manager and with his work commitments he felt he couldn’t give the role the time it needed. I suggested that both Aaron and Matt joined the first team coaching set up and I was delighted when they agreed to do so.

“We did offer Matt the chance to take on the Reserve job but he made it clear he wanted to join the firsts along with Aaron.”

The Club are currently in negotiations with a new Reserve Team Manager, and those talks are at an advanced stage. An announcement should be made within the next week on the Ladies Official Website.
