Gills Ladies 2-4 Barnet Ladies

Gills Ladies made a great game of it against their National Premiership opponents on a glorious day at Chatham Town.

They lost the game 4-2 in the end despite a Natalie Crinean double putting the Gills 2-0 up within the first ten minutes.

The Gills were into their stride from the off and looked to attack from the referees whistle and take the game to their opponents.

There was just three minutes on the clock when a Danni Farmer cross into the area was stroked home by Natalie Crinean to put the Gills ahead.

On 6 minutes former Gills player Leah Jones unleashed a shot from distance that flew high and wide.

Two minutes later and Amy Russ robbed a Barnet defender and unleashed a shot from distance that went well over the bar.

The Gills went 2-0 up on nine minutes when a Liv McGregor played in Natalie Crinean and she smashed home her second of the game with a bit of help from the keeper.

Barent let fly from distance on 13 minutes but Jess Nunn watched the ball sail over the bar.

20 mins in and Farms played in Natalie Crinean again but her shot was wide of the far post.

There were 25 minutes on the clock when Leah Jones fired a free-kick straight at Jess Nunn in the Gills goal after a foul on a Barnet player.

27 minutes on the clock and Leah Jones got Barnet back in the game by tucking a cross into the bottom corner.

A minute later it was 2-2 when a Barnet midfielder crossed in for the left back to rise unmarked and head home at the far most.

35 minutes in Natalie Crinean was fouled and Farms swung the ball into the area and Crinean heads just wide.

Half Time 2-2

The first chance of the second half fell to Barnet but their striker couldn’t keep her shot down.

In the 54th minute Leah Jones was played in and Sian Cheedy went with her and Jones hit a shot straight at Jess Nunn in the Gills goal.

Barnet went ahead for the first time when Leah Jones was played in and she looped a shot into the top corner via a slight deflection.

On the hour mark it was 4-2 to Barnet when a Leah Jones cross was headed home by the Barnet striker.

Foul on Natalie Crinean and Danni Farmer steps up with the delivery. Sarah Jones arrived at the far post but headed over in the 67th minute via a deflection. From the resulting corner Danni Farmer was fouled and she stepped up with the free-kick, that was held by the keeper.

In the 77th minute Vicky Ashton-Jones who fed Bryony Smith, she fired a shot in that bounced up awkwardly for the keeper.

In the 85th minute Danni Farmer crossed the ball for Natalie Crinean, who headed straight at the keeper.

A well worked Barnet move resulted in Jess Nunn making a good save and palming the ball out for a corner in the 88th minute. From the resulting corner the Barnet striker headed over with just the keeper to beat.
