Leah Jones rejoins Gills Ladies
Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on September 30, 2011
Gills Ladies can today announce the return of one of their former players to the club.
Leah Jones who joined part way through last season, left in the summer to join Barnet. However, we can today bring you exclusive news that she has resigned with the club.
Speaking about her return, she said:” I’m very pleased to be back at the club. Had my first training session last night which I really enjoyed! It’s good to be back!
“My return was purely an enjoyment factor. Barnet is a great club to be a part of; however for me the travelling was a lot and I just really wanted to play football with a smile on my face again! This is always guaranteed with the girls and coaches at the Gills.
“I’m very excited about this season. The girls have got off to a very good start and I have no doubt everyone will go from strength to strength this season, ultimately securing a place in the top half of the table.
“Of course in a good team like Gills competition for starting 11 places will always be hard, and like anyone I look forward to the competition of earning a place. It will be tough! The squad looks very promising this year, so I’m really looking forward to getting involved.”
Manager Ian Varley was pleased that he has been able to sign a player he didn’t want to lose in the closed season.
He said: “Absolutely delighted to have Leah back, I obviously didn’t want to lose her in the summer but she wanted another go at the National Premiership which was understandable.
“Obviously things haven’t worked out for her so the players and I are delighted she has come back. I’d like to thank Barnet for helping the move to go through quickly so she can go straight into our squad for Sunday.”
