Whitney Judd appointed Reserve Team vice captain

Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on September 30, 2011

Long serving Gills player Whitney Judd has been rewarded for her service to the club being by being appointed vice captain of the Reserve team.

Whit has been with the Club since she was 16, playing for both the first team and more recently the Reserve team.

A clearly delighted Whit couldn’t contain her excitement of being given her new position by new Reserve manager Becky Lyon.

Speaking exclusively to the Ladies Official site, Whit said: “I was really surprised to be asked to be Ressies vice captain. I wasn’t expecting it at all, but it’s made me very happy!

“It is a massive honour. I have always tried to help the girls out as much as I can anyway but this just gives me even more reasons to keep pushing them in training and on match days.”

It is just reward for a player who has served the club well over the last few years; something Whit is keen to do more of.

She added: “It’s probably where I get on with the girls really well as well. The Ressies mean everything to me and everyone involved with them.

“I have been here a few years but so have a few of the girls, everyone has loads of passion for the Ressies.

“Hopefully I can help getting everyone’s spirits up, making sure everyone puts 100% in all the time and just to make sure that everyone is enjoying themselves, then they will play well.”

Newly appointed Manager Becky Lyon was delighted that the defender has accepted her offer.

Speaking about appointing Whit as vice captain, Bex said: “The first thing I wanted to do to take the pressure off Kimi a little bit and also to reward someone who has played passionately for Gills for years.

“That first task was to ask Whitney Judd to be vice captain, she has accepted and we are all delighted she has. We are almost complete with what we need to do now and we can push on for the season.”
