Varley’s Views ahead of QPR
Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on October 22, 2011
Gillingham Ladies begin the first fixture of the second half of their League season tomorrow.
Queens Park Rangers Ladies are the visitors to Chatham Town FC as the Gills look to continue their good form.
Speaking ahead of the game, Ian said: “It is very strange to be half way through the season in the Middle of October.
“Without the League Cup and the kind weather we’ve been able to get through more games. We’ve taken 12 points from 27 and the leaders Brighton have taken 18 points, so were not far off the pace. It’s been a steady start.
“Over the two games you look to take as many points as you can whether that’s six with two wins or four with a win and draw. We are very confident we can do the double on Sunday but we’ll have to be at our best.”
Despite QPR being four points and two places lower than the Gills Ian knows it won’t be an easy game.
He added: “There are no easy games in this League and that’s proven week after week with the results that come.
“They only marginally lost at the league leaders last week so I’m sure that will give them some confidence coming into Sunday’s game.
“As I said we’ve had a steady start and that’s proven with our recent form and league position. Everyone would like to have more points but were up there and with eight games to go with just got to take it one game at a time starting with Sunday.”
The Gills will be without Sarah Jones on Sunday afternoon and Ian admits it will be a big loss.
He said: “Losing Jonesy is a massive blow but we do have players capable of coming in and replacing her.
“I’ve said all along that whoever has the best squad will win the league and I stand by that. Ours is strong, is it the strongest, I’m not sure but we’ll find out at the end of the season.”

If she doesn’t have the oavries to tell you she doesn’t like your shirt to your face, then that’s her fault. I ought to go to the next blogher and show em what really offensive shirts look like. Reply:July 27th, 2009 at 1:28 am, That’s really my only beef out of the whole thing, that I wish she would have talked to me face to face. But hey, to each her own.And if only they’d seen the shirts I came up with but DIDN’T order/wear. Reply:July 28th, 2009 at 12:45 am, It must be nice to live in a world where some asshole’s* shirts are such an affront.*not that I’m calling you an asshole, but she is, so I’m using her terms.Edited to add: I’d call you a fucking asshole.
