Varley: We have given them the goals

Manager Ian Varley was far from happy with his side’s performance on Sunday afternoon.
They slipped to defeat over newly promoted Plymouth Ladies for the second time this season, this time 2-0.
Speaking about the game, Ian said: “Unfortunately its the same old story for us with regards to not taking our chances.
“We had three one on ones and numerous other chances before they even scored and at this level you can’t afford to miss those chances. Having said that is was unlike us to gift a team two soft goals as well.
“Although they were two very good finishes we have given them the goals. Over playing at the back for the first one and a silly free kick for the second one. Other than that and as the stats proved they did very little else.
“The penalty was a ridiculous decision so luckily justice was done and Sarah made a brilliant save.”
It is now two defeats against Plymouth as mentioned earlier, and Ian believes if they Ladies want to finish higher they need to be more clinical.
He added: “If we want to finish in the top three then we have to beating teams like Plymouth.
“We’ve played well against them in both games but not been clinical enough. If you look over the two games we have created 30+ chances and scored one and they have created seven and scored six goals. We have to be ruthless in front of goal if we want to finish higher up the table.
“We’ve been good at bouncing back from defeats so hopefully we can do the same next week against West Ham.”
