Varley: I’ve got no complaints
Published by Gillingham Ladies Media on February 15, 2012
Manager Ian Varley was left disappointed by his side’s performance last weekend.
They exited the FA Cup at the third round stage once again, but what disappointed Ian the most was the level of performance.
He said: “It’s a game we should be winning! I’ve got no complaints though, we played poorly and Keynsham played above themselves hence the 4-1 score line. We deserve to be out.
“One of the most disappointing aspects of the game was that, we started well, took the lead and then for one reason or another never got going again.
“It is possible that the fact it was our first game in a few weeks may have played a part, but it’s the same for most teams at this time of year! I won’t be using that as an excuse.”
The Gills have exited the cup at the same stage for the last three seasons but Ian isn’t reading too much into that.
He added: “I think it’s just coincidence that we’ve gone out in the same round in each of the past three seasons. Each time we’ve not been good enough on the day, it’s as simple as that.”
The Ladies are back in action Sunday as they host WSL side Chelsea in a friendly, kick-off is at 2pm and entry is £5 for adults and £2.50 for concessions and under 16′s.
